I have a client who is struggling to get their employees to use monday.com. This clearly poses a great risk to the account, but also our reputation as a monday.com partner. Do you have some strategies, tips, tricks, tools you can recommend to help increase adoption rates?

Hi,
I have a lot of experience with this.
I’ll start with what definitely doesn’t work:
- Forcing them to use it. This will just fuel resentment and the best possible outcome is that they use it badly, most likely they won’t use it at all
- Expecting them to be as passionate and excited at the prospect as you are. Just because you see the value for the business, doesn’t mean the employees will see any value to their contribution of the business
What you think might work but doesn’t (in my experience):
- Engaging with the employees to get their input and attempt to shape the system to what they say they want. This seems like a great idea but at the end of it, they still just aren’t invested enough.
What will have a chance of working:
- Making the system so that they have to use it as little as possible. They have a job to do what they do best, these systems may benefit the business overall but it is an impediment to their ability to complete their work. Build it so their time in it is minimal
- Find and promote ways in which the system can actually save them time, make their day easier and that will actually allow them to do their job better. So say for example they have always had to book time against a project always, they know they have to do it but hate it. Build in Monday something that does this for them, they simply click start and stop and the system does the rest.
- Make it the silent background tool for collaboration. An example will be to have the data and workflows in Monday but the team can use Slack for the team to collaborate. In that, you can automate functions between Slack and Monday, have approval workflows sent to slack.
